Department Description
The global Leadership, Learning and Development team is part of the firm’s People function and supports the firm’s People strategy across each of the firm’s regions (Americas, APAC and EMEA) through a range of global, regional, and local development programmes, workshops, e-learning, and other career development activities. Within the Leadership, Learning and Development team, the Legal Learning team are responsible for practice-specific and technical legal training initiatives.
Role Overview
The Legal Learning Manager will be a member of the Leadership, Learning & Development team. They will be responsible for the design, development, and management of learning programmes that enhance the technical legal knowledge and legal skills of our lawyers, primarily in the EMEA region. These may take the form of in person, virtual or e-learning programmes. They will collaborate with relevant partners, Knowledge Lawyers, the Regional Heads of Knowledge, other key stakeholders, and colleagues across the People function to support specific practice area learning and development initiatives. The Legal Learning Manager will also be responsible for reviewing and refreshing digital learning content on our LMS, in collaboration with the Digital Learning & Development team.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Collaborate with subject matter experts, including Knowledge Lawyers, partners, colleagues in the Leadership, Learning & Development team and external providers, to design and deliver high quality learning programmes, workshops and e-learning which develop lawyers’ technical legal knowledge and legal skills
Ensure that the practice-specific legal learning programmes complement and support the firm’s lawyer career development initiatives
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in relevant practice groups and offices in EMEA (and globally where needed), to ensure that all jurisdictions are represented in Legal Learning programming
In collaboration with the Digital Learning & Development team, regularly audit and refresh legal learning materials and resources
Design and facilitate workshops for junior lawyers (trainees and associates) in the UK
Monitor and evaluate programme and workshop effectiveness, value and areas for improvement through feedback and impact surveys
Support in the management and development of the Legal Learning Coordinators, providing feedback on an ongoing basis and promoting a continuous learning and knowledge-sharing culture where individual and team learning is nurtured, valued, and used
Maintain and monitor training budgets, and support with the annual budget process
Keep up-to-date with legal education, law firm business, digital learning, AI trends, and legal developments
Participate in other Leadership, Learning & Development projects and initiatives as and when required
Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services

Person Specification
Qualifications And Training
Several years of experience of designing and delivering online and/or in person training in a law firm or equivalent professional services environment
A qualification in learning and development and/or instructional design is preferred
General Attributes
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentation/facilitation skills
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, fast-paced, professional environment
