We are looking for someone with experience managing the administration of a legal department.

The Legal and Business Affairs (L&BA) department provides legal support and ensures regulatory compliance against business delivery in 170 countries.

The role will involve supporting the General Counsel from an administrative perspective whilst also managing departmental initiatives.

What will you do in this role?
In this role, you will report to the Director of Legal Operations and provide essential support to the General Counsel, whilst also improving key processes within the wider L&BA department.
The overall purpose of the role is to support the smooth and efficient operation of the Legal and Business Affairs department.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the business strategy and priorities of the General Counsel.
- Acting as the process owner for standard/central L&BA administrative processes.
- Overall responsibility for managing the diary of the General Counsel.
- Ownership of communications within L&BA and co-ordination with the wider corporate Internal Communications team.
- Management of L&BA's business facing Sharepoint site.
- Supporting the implementation and day to day running of legal systems within L&BA.
- Ownership of departmental reporting and a best practice approach to metrics.
- Responsibility for the starters and leavers process within L&BA including improvements to existing processes.
- Organising and co-ordinating a departmental training plan.
- Managing the procure to pay and expenses process as it relates to the General Counsel.
- Organising departmental meetings, travel and events.
- Monitoring incoming communications on behalf of the General Counsel.
- Managing departmental subscriptions including Solicitors Regulation Authority renewals.
- Acting as the on-site point of contact for external visitors to L&BA.
Who are you?
We don't mind whether you have gained your experience in-house or in law firm.
While we may give an indication of desired experience in relevant roles as a guide, we're also keen to hear about different experience which would make you a strong addition to our team.
You're curious to learn (we are an education and research publishing organisation after all), and a perfect mix of self-starter and team player.
Along with sound legal administration skills, you will communicate effectively, enabling delivery of departmental objectives. You will be able to working collaboratively with others in the team and the wider organisation.
Your success will be underpinned by your ability to prioritise, with a practical and pragmatic approach to the delivery of tasks and projects.
Location
We like getting together in the office but we also support hybrid working. The amount of time in the office will be a decision based on your and the team's needs, rather than rigid requirements. Our expectation for this role is three days a week in our Cambridge office. We'll give you the tools you need to do your job wherever that may be.
