ABOUT THE ROLE


This newly created Legal Secretary role is to work with our London based Leasehold Enfranchisement & Residential (LER), department and support the team as they continue to grow.


The position can be either be a full time (35hr a week), or part-time (4 days a week), role.

The team focuses on every sector of the residential property market. They specialise in freehold enfranchisement, lease extensions both acting for landlord and for flat owners, conveyancing for individuals, rights of first refusal, right to manage claims and other leasehold issues.


The role will see you working as part of a team providing administrative support for the team of one Partner, two Legal Directors, Senior Associate, Associate, and two Paralegals. You will also be working alongside two other Legal Secretaries, who have paralegal responsibilities.


Some of your day-to-day tasks will include:


  • Responding to Land Registry requisitions.
  • SDLT forms in line with the firm’s policy
  • Sending out documents to sign via DocuSign.
  • Creating and updating online data rooms.
  • Creating and ordering property searches.
  • Land Registry (ordering documents, investigations etc).
  • Inputting contacts onto DealCloud.

ABOUT YOU


As a Legal Secretary/Legal PA, you will be able to demonstrate past experience within a residential conveyancing team. Experience within an enfranchisement team would also be helpful, but not essential.


You will thrive on being highly organised with excellent attention to detail. and love juggling multiple tasks, using your prioritisation skills to manage deadlines, clients and your colleagues. Experience with a legal document management system (we use NetDocs), the legal billing process (we use 3E), and document formatting are essential for this role.


In return you will be joining a highly respected team who deal with high value, complex residential property transactions for a wide range of clients.

Application review

Your profile will be screened by a member of the WS recruitment team. If you CV is shortlisted, you will be invited to have a short call with our Recruitment Manager, Ash Evans, to discuss your interest in the vacancy. 1st interview (In person at our London office)

This will be with the Head of LER, and Ash Evans, who will discuss your interest in the role, what you are looking for professionally, and ask some competency/behavioural questions that relate to the key skills/behaviours needed for this position. Additionally, you will sit a 60min Excel/Word technical test.


Every candidate who reaches this stage will be offered the chance to have a feedback call with our Recruitment Manager to understand why they weren't progressed to the next interview stage, so that you can use this feedback to help with other job applications.


2nd interview (in person at our London office)

At this stage, you will get to meet other members of the team, including at least on of the Legal Secretaries, who can provide you with their insight into what it is like working as a Legal Secretary in the LER team.


This is also a good opportunity to ask any final role/firm specific questions.

Offer of employment

If you are successful and accept our offer of employment, we will submit your details to our background screening company (Giant), who will conduct a series of background checks. Once these have been completed and we have separately validated your proof of right to work in the UK, a start date can be agreed, and your onboarding schedule can be planned.
