About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About The Team
As a Library Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our library’s daily operations—delivering excellent customer service and ensuring visitors feel welcomed, supported, and inspired. You’ll assist customers with a wide range of queries, from navigating library activities and locating stock to accessing broader library services.
Your role will also play a vital part in promoting community wellbeing. You’ll provide accurate, high-quality information to help customers improve their health and economic circumstances, signposting them to relevant resources and support networks. Beyond the front desk, you’ll champion informal learning and reader development. Whether it’s recommending a great read, guiding users to trusted information providers, or coaching adults and children in basic IT skills, you’ll help foster a love of learning and discovery in every visitor.
About The Team
Haringey Libraries are at the heart of our vibrant and diverse borough—places where people come to learn, connect, and thrive. Our team is passionate about delivering inclusive, high-quality services that support literacy, wellbeing, and lifelong learning for all.
We work collaboratively across our network of libraries to create welcoming spaces, run engaging events, and provide trusted information and support to our communities. Whether helping someone access digital resources or guiding residents to health and employment services, we take pride in making a real difference every day.
About You
You will have a strong understanding of library services, and the role public libraries play in supporting local communities. With experience in customer service, community engagement, and event planning, you’re confident working with a diverse range of people and queries.
Your excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills help you deliver high-quality support and promote learning and wellbeing. If you’re enthusiastic about making a positive impact and working as part of a dynamic team, we’d love to hear from you.
