- Maryport � 16 hours per week � over a 2 week rota
Working hours will be Monday 9.15 � 12, Tuesday 9.15 � 12, Wednesday 1.35 � 5, Thursday 9.15 � 12, every other Saturday 9.15 � 12.30�
- Keswick � 27.25 hours per week
Working hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9.15 � 5, Friday, Saturday 9.15 to 12.
Salary: �25,989 per annum pro rata

About This Opportunity
Cumberland Council is looking for welcoming and proactive individuals to join our Libraries and Customer Services team. We currently have three
�Library and Customer Assistant vacancies available across various locations, with a range of working hours to suit different lifestyles.
As a Library and Customer Assistant, you�ll be the first point of contact for visitors, supporting them with everything from borrowing books and using digital services to accessing council information and attending community events. You�ll also help deliver engaging activities, maintain library stock, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all.
We�re looking for people with great communication skills, a positive attitude, and experience in face-to-face customer service. Confidence with digital technology and a genuine interest in reading and learning are essential. In return, you�ll be part of a supportive team that values community impact, with opportunities to work across different locations and contribute to a vibrant, evolving service.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about libraries, community engagement, and helping others use both print and digital resources. If you�re friendly, proactive, and love working with people of all ages, we would be keen to hear from you!
These roles are available on a permanent basis. In some locations, you will usually be the sole member of library staff onsite and will be responsible for the service and building during working hours.�Flexible working is not available as the hours are fixed to when the Libraries are open.
