Position Summary
The Litigation Associate will support the firm's litigation practice by working on a range of commercial litigation matters. The role will involve assisting senior solicitors in advising clients, preparing cases for trial, conducting legal research, drafting documentation and managing the day-to-day aspects of litigation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience and develop expertise in litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in all stages of litigation matters, including legal research, drafting Court documents, preparing for hearings, disclosure, witness statements and trial bundles.
- Conduct substantive legal research and analysis to support the case strategy.
- Liaise with clients to gather information and provide advice and timely updates on case progress.
- Attend meetings, conferences and hearings to assist senior solicitors and counsel when required.
- Manage day-to-day aspects of litigation cases, coordinating with support staff and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Draft correspondence, instructions to counsel, document requests and other litigation documents.
- Stay up to date with legal developments, court procedures and evolving practices related to litigation.
- Develop knowledge across varied areas of commercial litigation disputes.
- Contribute to practice development initiatives and knowledge sharing as required.
Qualifications
- Qualifying law degree and completed all qualifying Solicitors Regulation Authority training
- 3-5 years of litigation experience at a reputable law firm or comparable exposure
- Strong understanding of civil procedure rules, evidence practices and court proceedings
- Excellent legal research, writing and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Familiarity with areas such as commercial litigation, professional negligence, civil fraud, shareholder disputes and insurance disputes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding organisational abilities and time management skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Motivated self-starter
