We are looking for experienced live-in carers to help support our female client who is in her mid-40’s in St Albans with an acquired brain injury. Since sustaining her brain injury in 2005, our client has been diagnosed with Klüver-Bucy syndrome.

Our client requires full monitoring from live-in carers due her acquired brain injury, this affects her memory, understanding and ability to stick to routine when carrying out everyday tasks.

The role will include music lessons, shopping, swimming, going to the gym and going on walks around the local area as well as offering ongoing support and companionship.

The role will also include:

  • Providing compassionate and personalised care to our client, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Assisting with daily living activities including domestic tasks
  • Engaging in meaningful and stimulating activities tailored to individual preferences, hobbies and interests such as swimming. Our client has a passion for swimming and requires a live-in carer who is a strong swimmer and happy to be in the water with her.
  • Creating a positive and supportive atmosphere, promoting social interaction and a sense of community.
  • Communicating effectively with families, healthcare professionals and colleagues to ensure holistic care.

Caring for individuals with an acquired brain injury can be challenging at times and requires a unique set of skills, understanding and support.

The ideal candidate will also need to have:

  • Empathy and understanding of the unique needs of our client.
  • Previous experience in caring for or supporting individuals with a brain injury or similar.
  • Candidates must be a strong swimmer and be comfortable in in water - this is due to our clients hobby of swimming.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant training relating to role.
  • Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle as it is a community-based role.
