Loan Manager

We’re working with a financial services organisation that’s looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter / Loan Manager to join their specialist lending team. This is a mandated role where you’ll take ownership of underwriting decisions, working across a variety of complex cases with exposure to facilities up to £5m.

If you have underwriting experience (particularly in 2nd charge or specialist mortgages) and are looking for a role where you’ll be trusted with real decision-making responsibility, this could be a great next step.

💼 What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing and underwriting a pipeline of specialist mortgage cases
• Making credit decisions within your mandate, starting up to £1m and progressing to £5m
• Reviewing customer and broker requests, ensuring accurate and timely outcomes
• Preparing and presenting recommendations on amendments to existing facilities
• Working within policy and risk frameworks, escalating where appropriate
• Collaborating with colleagues in credit, risk, and operations, as well as brokers and external partners

🎯 What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years’ experience in mortgage underwriting, ideally with exposure to 2nd charge or specialist lending
• Proven experience of holding a credit decision mandate
• Confident in managing multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-first approach
• Knowledge of the mortgage process and risk management principles
