This is an exciting opportunity for skilled and competent Consultant to join Watford General Hospital. The fixed term post has the potential to become substantive in future.
The post holder will work as a ward consultant on general medicine wards. This will be Castle in the first instance with some flexibility depending on demand. The post holder will also provide Virtual Hospital (VH) consultant work. This will be based in the VH hub and be primarily on the general medicine pathway. They will also Provide medical cover in MAU for ambulatory day patients as needed. The successful candidate will also be Joining the medical team Physician of the Day (POD) rota, frequency to be determined.
The successful candidate will be expected to work 09:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday on their allocated ward. There may also be the occasional weekend cover involved with the role.
Ward consultant work on general medicine wards
Monitoring patients on VH and doing remote reviews, face to face review of VH patients in MAU and reviewing potential VH patients in ED, ACU, MAU, AAU or PMOK to assess for suitability.
Responsible for ensuring adequate clinical notes are made in accordance with good medical practice.
To work closely with appropriate nursing, professional, technical, and administrative and support staff.
Physicians are required to perform duties over and above their contracted hours in occasional emergencies and in unforeseen circumstances, at the request of the Clinical Director of the service.
