We are looking to appoint a Whole-time Locum Consultant in Neuro Anaesthesia to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of anaesthetic services to the Trust.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based medicine.
- Pursue continuous improvement in the quality of care that we provide.
- Ensure we work to the PROUD values, with the patient at the heart of what we do.
- Provide an outstanding environment for our junior doctors to train.
- Maintain skills and update knowledge base meeting the Continuing Education and Professional Development requirements of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
- Actively participate in the QI and audit ambitions of the Department.
- Participate in the on-call rota at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
- Be prepared to work on all sites where elective surgical work is undertaken. The majority of this takes place at RHH and NGH. Lists will only be on one site on a given day.
- The successful candidate would inevitably have responsibility for resource utilisation and would be expected to be aware of and take part in the Directorate business planning process which governs new developments.
Some flexibility within duties dependent on the exigencies of service need will be expected from the appointee.
The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.
Located on rolling hills and dissected by river valleys, Sheffield is one of the greenest and most wooded cities in Europe. More than a third of the city lies inside the beautiful Peak District National Park, and it is virtually surrounded by open countryside. Its central location and excellent transport links also means it is less than two hours from most major metropolitan areas.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an award winning and internationally recognised team, with a focus on innovation, research and high quality care, as well as family friendly working, and we are keen to discuss with individuals about how we can support their ambitions.
