About Our Route
Central Route sits at the heart of Britain’s railway network, covering critical commuter and freight lines in and out of Birmingham. It includes the Chiltern Main Line, the Snow Hill line, the Cross City line, and connections to cities such as Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, and Oxford. Central Route is home to Birmingham New Street station, the busiest outside of London, with over 170,000 passengers daily. This route plays a vital role in supporting the UK's economy and connecting communities.
Brief Description
As a Logistic Coordinator you will maintain, control and monitor the supply, storage and use of plant, materials and consumables. Provide facilities management services for the delivery unit and its Maintenance satellite sites.
About The Role (External)
Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
You will lead the Logistics team to meet business objectives and performance targets while ensuring staff development, engagement, safety, and competence. Key responsibilities include managing stock levels, maintaining stores efficiently, minimizing material waste, and ensuring the proper disposal of waste. The role also involves identifying and implementing improvements in safety, productivity, and asset performance.
Additionally, the position oversees the maintenance and calibration of small plant, tools, and equipment, and ensures buildings are maintained to required standards. It includes acting as a client for building projects and driving efficiencies across materials and equipment management. Regular safety tours and staff surveillance are also integral to the role.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
- Knowledge of logistics processes and techniques
- Knowledge of plant and tools specification
- Knowledge of Environmental Legislation
- Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
- Good communication and organisation skills
- Knowledge of relevant Company IT systems
It’s not mandatory to have the below, but it would be desirable to have :
- Knowledge of operational railway
- Knowledge of contractual arrangements with suppliers
- Good understanding of maintenance processes and delivery techniques
How To Apply (External)
Salary: starting from £35,582 raising to £42,218 per annum. Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the pay range advertised.
