About The Role
SZC is ultimately owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG. The shareholders hold their investment in SZC through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. Over the course of the current shareholding arrangements the shareholdings of the two shareholders will change.
The shareholders will fund SZC up until Financial Close through equity in line with the approved schedule and budget. SZC’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure (including activities relating to hydrogen, direct air capture and/or desalination) at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The principal objectives of the current development phase of the SZC project are to agree and implement the Capital Raise Plan, including completing an equity and debt raise, agree the core supply chain contracts and obtain the regulatory permits and licences required for the construction phase of the Project (including the core environmental permits and nuclear site licence).
Prior to the government investment decision SZC operated as part of EDF in the Nuclear Development business unit and was staffed by EDF colleagues and independent contractors who are now in the process of transferring to the direct employment of SZC. It is setting itself up as an organisation capable of delivering a new nuclear power plant, from investment case and funding, to construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning.
The SZC construction programme has a technical and commercial business case predicated on technical replication of Hinkley Point C. EDF will be an important supplier of nuclear capability for the SZC Programme from its established nuclear business footprint in the UK.
Key stakeholders are: UK Government, relevant Government departments and agencies including Treasury BEIS, EDF, Financial investors and institutions, Regulators, Alliance partners and local communities.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the ENW & EW Logistics manager, the ENW logistics engineer will be directly involved in the logistic requirements and process for construction works of the Enabling Works Portion, part of Sizewell C project.
Enabling Works portion is composed of several construction assets of high complexity and technique to be built at Sizewell C, plus all the off-site facilities to be implemented across the UK. That multiple location will lead to a thorough planning of the logistics process between sites, including:
- Material Bulk Import Facility (MBIF)
- Beach Landing Facility jetty (BLF)
- Temporary/Permanent Sea Defence
- Cut-Off Wall
- Enabling works needed for future Main Civil Works: access road, crossing, drain diversion,…
- Working in collaboration with the ENW team and the ENW Logistics Manager, the Logistics engineer shall anticipate and communicate any possible deviation from the logistics strategies and operations defined for the scope of works.
- Assist in the selection/procurement of the different logistics packages and suppliers.
- Establish a collaborative team and communication with the Logistics manager and the wider operational team.
- Monitor the progress of the delivery programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget.
- Support the Logistics manager on the logistics plans for all components of the ENW portion.
- Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement. And lessons learned from previous projects to optimise flows and delivery strategies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all project team members.

Essential
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements, objectives and procedures, so that a safe system of work is implemented and to ensure that these are followed accurately
- Ability to work with multiple interest groups to develop solutions to complex operational and technical requirement for the construction works.
- Desirable understanding of general logistics processes, particularly in large-scale construction projects.
- Desirable previous construction experience within tunnel segmental or precast elements projects in UK
- Preferably experience in rail and/or port logistics as well as management of haulier and multiple suppliers, from plant equipment to freight.
