Senior Investment Banking VP- M&A Industrials Team

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our M&A Industrials team at Investec. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the management of our M&A Industrials business while working in a collaborative environment.
Description of Role
The Senior Investment Banking VP will work closely with a senior Director to support origination and execution of complex M&A and capital markets transactions across the industrials and energy transition sectors. The role demands a high-performing, detail-oriented individual capable of managing multiple workstreams independently, with exceptional analytical, execution, and communication skills. The Associate will be expected to take full ownership of materials, maintain high professional standards under tight timelines, and proactively drive deliverables forward while adapting to a fast-paced, exacting environment.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Execution Support:
- Own full workstreams across M&A and capital raise processes, including financial modelling, valuation, IM drafting, buyer/investor lists, and Q&A management.
Client-Ready Materials:
- Prepare polished, accurate pitchbooks, marketing materials, and client communications with minimal supervision and strong command of message hierarchy.
Financial Analysis & Modelling:
- Build, review, and sensitise LBO, DCF, and trading/transaction comps models to support strategic recommendations, with sharp attention to detail and consistency.
Project Management:
- Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met on time; escalate risks early and communicate proactively with the deal lead.
Sector & Buyer Research:
- Conduct targeted market and buyer research to support origination and marketing efforts; synthesise complex industry data into concise and relevant insights.
- Quality Control:
- Take ownership of first-pass quality for all outputs—ensuring numerical accuracy, formatting consistency, and alignment with team standards and tone of voice.
Professional Communication:
- Draft emails, board updates, and meeting notes in a tone appropriate for senior clients and investors, maintaining discretion and clarity at all times.
Mentoring & Delegation:
- Support Analysts with clear instructions and quality feedback, ensuring team efficiency without compromising standards.
Core Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required for the Role
Strong Financial Modelling & Technical Proficiency
- Demonstrated expertise in building and auditing LBO, DCF, merger models, and trading/transaction comps with precision and speed.
Excellent Written & Verbal Communication
- Ability to craft succinct, client-ready materials and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders across internal and external teams.
High Degree of Ownership & Accountability
- Comfortable taking full responsibility for workstreams and deliverables; consistently delivers high-quality output under pressure without repeated oversight.
Sector Familiarity – Industrials
- Prior experience or demonstrable interest in industrials, energy transition, or infrastructure sectors preferred, with the ability to ramp up quickly on niche sub-sectors.
