Job Title: VisionPLUS with Mainframe Engineer
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Type: Subcontractor / FTE (6 months)
Experience: 8+ years in banking application development (credit card processing)
Role Overview
You will work as a technical lead on medium to large projects, focusing on VisionPLUS modules and Mainframe technologies. The role involves design, development, testing, deployment, and support for complex banking applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for medium/large projects.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document COBOL programs in CICS / VSAM / JCL environments.
- Translate business requirements (BRD) into MVPs and user stories.
- Collaborate with architects, solution analysts, and SMEs to ensure the right solution.
- Estimate project timelines and deliverables.
- Create high-level designs and develop code as per specifications.
- Conduct peer reviews for design, code, and unit test results.
- Follow quality standards and controls.
- Support production deployments and post-implementation activities.
- Provide application support and resolve production incidents.
- Improve system performance.
- Mentor junior developers.
- Manage stakeholders effectively.
Required Skills & Experience

- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, and Mainframe tools (Endevor, Changeman, batch scheduling).
- Good knowledge of other VisionPLUS modules (TRAMS, LTS, ASM, VMX, WINGS, FM, etc.).
- Experience in developing and maintaining complex banking/credit card processing systems.
- Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience leading small/medium projects.
