We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced
Maintenance Manager based at our Andover site, with a 5 day onsite working model. Through consistent and effective methods, the Maintenance Manager will facilitate the smooth and efficient running of the operation of the engineering function thus assisting the engineering team meet the demands of the business and production targets and to continually strive to reduce costs whilst ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum.

Operations (Deliver, Better, Simpler and Cheaper)
- To work with the Senior Leadership team to ensure
- To lead / direct, motivate and effectively manage a manufacturing team. This will include maintaining the responsibilities and drive the accountabilities required of all team members as well as ensuring the delivery of compliance of all areas. In addition, ensure holiday cover and succession planning to deliver seamless department service
- Ensure good communications both up and down (to include cascading business goals / vision / Leadership principles), to share information, knowledge, instructions, advise and support and understanding
- Drive the performance of the team to deliver the requirements for the day in the most efficient way
- Ensure you and the team understand all KPIs relevant to your area and how their behaviour effects the KPI’s of other areas. Effectively communicate any changes and feedback on performance regularly. Motivate and drive the Department to meet the KPIs set and encourage the KPI ethos throughout the Department.
- Operate proactively as well as react promptly to any downtime, inefficiencies and quality issues - look to resolve and monitor accordingly - working closely with department Supervisors and Management
- Promote and maintain a high standard of health and safety within own functions/departments and across the Site - to include ensuring that the compliance of mandatory and on-the-job training are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure all operations are in line with and adhere to the food safety principles. Company, H&S, HR and Hygiene policies and standards must also be always adhered to (remembering that H&S and Food safety are conditions)
- Ensure that all SOP’s are duly written and signed off in accordance with HSE requirements.
- Ensure all safety observations are raised by team and any non conformances/corrective actions are closed out with HSE Manager
- Own Engineering Pillar book and achieve desired KPI
- Liaise with Maintenance team members to ensure efficient conclusion to breakdowns during normal operations
- Ensure the correct choice and levels of engineering spares are maintained in a suitable storage location and ensure regular stock take is undertaken
- Ensure the productive capability of the plant is optimised and improved wherever possible to meet and exceed factory targets
- Co-ordinate and manage the Maintenance labour cover and hours worked
- Ensure people management is consistent and fair - working closely with the HR team - to ensure RTW processes are followed, absence and holidays are managed within the department as well as dealing performance / misconduct of the team
- Where performance and / or conduct of colleagues come into question - you must manage / support accordingly to ensure that all work to the Company standard expected. This may involve chairing employee relations matters (to include disciplinary, grievances and capability matters)
- Actively support the production teams
- Commit to specific projects to manage, initiated by yourself or others which would include close control of contractors and liaising with company personnel at all levels on site
- Develop daily maintenance schedules to ensure safe and efficient running of the plant and equipment, including compliance with our own Codes of Practice
- Continuously review the maintenance schedules and liaise with the engineering team to ensure standards of plant and equipment are maintained whilst minimising the labour required
- Ensure compliance to audits and our own codes of practice by maintaining essential documentation in an accessible location
- Manage the department’s budget and work closely with the maintenance team and the site accountant to ensure spend is controlled
- To recommend suppliers of major project work and monitor contractual performance
- To represent the company in dealing with utility suppliers (gas, electric and water) and all that this involves
- To liaise with outside bodies and authorities regarding planning and other statutory requirements
- To ensure all engineering activities and plant meet statutory Health & Safety requirements and at a quality standard
- To manage engineering resources including personnel
- To establish effective check/monitor regimes and to provide call out cover as may be required
- Ensure all paperwork is maintained and up to date
- Act as a mentor to all staff within the department and where necessary to those within other disciplines
- Ensure that all team members at all levels understand their part in achieving departmental operation objectives
- Facilitate own team to achieve the required output in the most efficient manner and build strong teams for the future development needs
- Coach, support and train the team to ensure they have the right skills to carry out nominated tasks
- Develop and maintain internal relationships with peers in other departments
- Assume overall responsibility for the safety of self and others whilst at work ensuring all requirements are trained and laid down within the company handbook, company health and safety hygiene policies are implemented and adhered to
- Be a member of the site management team championing best practice standards
- The role will also require the individual to support the Operational Excellence programme where necessary, and any hot house programmes held at site, to provide and support the OPEX programmes from Maintenance perspective
- Be present at required meetings (eg T1, T2, T3, management meeting, site reviews)
- Support other functions within the business and assist in delivering their KPI’s
- To contribute to the identification and closure of Gaps in line with OPEX requirements.

- Support and seek opportunities within any projects to reduce waste, maximize recycling and reduction of the carbon footprint of the site.
Quality & food safety
- The job holder is responsible for actively encouraging all staff to immediately report any quality or food safety issues, assign reward for doing so (using the STAR Award process) and must be seen to take visible action and give feedback to the reportee on actions taken to address the raised issue.
- The job holder will be required to support the site food safety and quality management systems through active engagement in the internal and external audit programmes. The site will be maintained as “audit ready” at all times.
- The job holder will have signed the Andover Quality and Food Safety Contract. This will be reviewed and signed annually.
