As the Major Projects Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering an ambitious £0.5billion programme of large-scale regeneration projects from early-stage option assessment through planning, design and land assembly to construction and post-construction evaluation.

Our projects include: major highway infrastructure and sustainable transport schemes; market town renewal; commercial properties etc - all at varying stages of development. Tight financial controls and robust programme management are essential so, to be successful, you will need to demonstrate a number of core skills, experience and talent to ensure successful programme delivery. These will be rewarded by a good salary and benefits package in return for a challenging, rewarding workload.

Examples of case work in 2025/26 alone will include:

• £2.5m+ ground investigation work to facilitate major transport infrastructure for a £170m+ project
• A £1.2m programme of feasibility studies into access and connectivity for major regeneration initiatives
• Completion of design, land assembly and business case approval for highway infrastructure valued at £70m within the South Derbyshire Growth Zone
• Early stage delivery of £10m worth of projects funded by the new East Midlands Combined County Authority.
• Support to completion of the £160m+ Markham Vale Business Park

Key aspects of this role

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate and core work will include:

• Being the ‘client side’ delivery manager of an agreed portfolio of projects and driving activity to ensure timely, compliant delivery.
• Leading procurement and management of professional services to ensure project delivery (including business case development to secure funding, in accordance with Treasury Green Book).
• Negotiating funding and delivery agreements with partners e.g. district and borough councils.
• Assembling and managing complex budgets to support delivery.
• Managing systems and processes that provide accurate information on project progress to support effective escalation and resolution of barriers to development.
• Providing high quality, accurate progress reports to senior managers and elected members

Skills and Experience

You are the right candidate for this role if you have experience of:

• working at a senior level in a large, complex organisation or similar environment delivering major development and construction projects
• achieving results through partnership working, influencing delivery beyond your area of direct control
• managing complex capital and revenue budgets

Your skills and talents will include:

• A proven ability to deliver projects and programmes on time and to budget.
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
• An ability to assimilate and analyse complex information and turn it into proposals for action
• Education to degree level, or equivalent professional qualification, supported by substantial experience.
• Prince2, Agile, Lean Six Sigma or similar project management / continuous improvement qualification.
