Management Accountant

The Role

This position sits at the heart of financial decision-making, providing robust analysis, insight and challenge to budget holders and senior stakeholders across both revenue and capital activity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation, review and quality assurance of financial forecasts and future budget plans across the full financial cycle
• Detailed financial analysis, trend reporting and identification of risks and opportunities
• Leading, managing and motivating a finance team to deliver high-quality financial information and insight
• Acting as the finance lead for forecasting, modelling and budget planning within allocated service areas
• Advising on cost drivers and developing financial models to support strategic and operational decisions
• Supporting the development of robust business cases, including quantifying costs, benefits and risks
• Coordinating annual accounts closure for functional areas, working closely with budget holders
• Ensuring compliance with Financial Regulations and accounting standards
• Supporting completion of financial returns, questionnaires and information requests

About You

You’ll be a confident, experienced finance professional with:

• Full CCAB qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA)
• Strong understanding of financial management frameworks in large, complex organisations
• Public sector experience (highly desirable)
• Proven experience delivering improvements within a finance function
• Ability to provide clear, credible financial advice to senior management teams
• Experience supporting large-scale services and capital programmes
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
