We’re looking for an
analytical, improvement-minded Management Accountant to join our vibrant Finance team. In this role, you’ll be right at the heart of our International Rail business – making sure our revenue streams are accurately reported, well-understood, and continuously improving. The role will involve a lot of contact with both internal and external stakeholder in our Paris office, so we need at least
business level French language skills in the role.
You’ll act as the bridge between our Financial and Commercial worlds, working closely with colleagues across Edinburgh, Paris, and London, as well as with our carrier partners across Europe. If you enjoy getting deep into the numbers, spotting opportunities for efficiency, and turning insight into action – this could be your stop.
What you’ll be doing
International Revenue Accounting & Reporting
- Own the accounting of International Commission, Rebates, and carrier-specific costs.
- Be the go-to contact for queries and negotiations with internal supply managers and external carrier partners.
- Prepare and present monthly analysis, including variances versus budget and prior year.
- Support accounting for new and growing monetisation streams.
Process & Controls Champion
- Build and maintain strong controls for commission, rebate, and accrued income calculations.
- Collaborate with our Finance Data & Controls team to enhance automation and data flow.
- Streamline key processes for accuracy and scalability – always looking for ways to make things better.
- Act as a key contact for audits and manage communications with our French third-party consultants.
People and Business Partnering
- Work closely with Management Accounts, Commercial Finance, Data & Controls, and Group Reporting teams, delivering insight to support smart decision-making.
- Provide constructive feedback, share your knowledge, and mentor graduate accountants.
- Lead by example and live our Trainline behaviours.
- Proactively spot and deliver value-adding initiatives beyond the day job.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified CA/ACCA/CIMA with 2+ years’ PQE and solid financial accounting experience.
- Proficiency in French (written and spoken).
- Experience with enterprise-wide finance systems across multiple entities or business units.
- A positive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to work autonomously.
- A strong communicator who can influence and support across teams.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with data.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- A curious, analytical mind that balances detail with big-picture thinking.
- Passion for continuous improvement and high-performing teamwork.
