Job Description
We're looking for a FC Risk Models and MI Manager for Checkout.com, based in London.
You will join a growing international Compliance team, reporting into the Head of Financial Crime Controls. This role is central to Checkout.com’s financial crime prevention capabilities, with primary responsibility for leading the strategic direction and continuous maintenance of financial crime risk models, notably the customer risk assessment and geographical risk assessment. You will be accountable for influencing their underlying methodologies, ensuring their ongoing effectiveness, and driving their evolution to meet regulatory standards and proactively address emerging financial crime threats, ensuring full alignment with the firm's risk appetite. Concurrently, you will be instrumental in developing and executing the Management Information (MI) and reporting strategy for the compliance function. This encompasses defining and prioritizing MI requirements, establishing robust MI governance and data quality standards, and effectively translating business needs into technical specifications for data and analytics partners. You will oversee the design and delivery of insightful MI solutions, including compliance dashboards and performance reporting, ensuring the timely fulfillment of all regulatory and internal reporting obligations. A core focus will be enabling actionable intelligence from diverse data sources, data-informed strategic decisions, and continuous improvement within Checkout.com's financial crime prevention framework.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Drive the strategic direction for Checkout.com’s financial crime risk models, ensuring their ongoing effectiveness and alignment with the firm's risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
- Drive the development, validation, and continuous enhancement of financial crime risk modelling methodologies, incorporating industry best practices, advanced analytical techniques, and emerging risk typologies.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and operationalization of risk models, collaborating closely with Data Analytics, Engineering, Product, and other relevant teams to ensure models are effectively integrated and performant.
- Champion the robust governance of all financial crime risk models, including the maintenance of comprehensive documentation for methodologies, validation processes, and performance monitoring.
- Refine, develop, and execute a comprehensive Management Information (MI) strategy for the Financial Crime Controls function, establishing clear MI standards, governance frameworks, and data quality controls.
- Act as a key liaison between Compliance and technical teams, translating complex business requirements and financial crime risks into precise specifications for data analytics and engineering partners to build targeted MI solutions.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of insightful MI reporting, including compliance dashboards and key risk indicators (KRIs), to provide senior leadership with clear visibility into financial crime risks, model performance, and control effectiveness.
- Enable the timely and accurate fulfillment of all financial crime-related reporting obligations, both internal and regulatory, managing the 'last mile' of data aggregation, validation, and submission.
- Proactively analyze MI and diverse data sources to identify financial crime trends, model performance issues, and control weaknesses, translating these findings into actionable insights and recommendations for strategic and operational improvements.
- Provide subject matter expertise on financial crime risk models and MI to internal stakeholders, supporting risk assessments, audits, regulatory engagements, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor evolving financial crime typologies, regulatory landscapes, and industry best practices in risk modelling and MI to ensure Checkout.com’s approaches remain current, compliant, and effective.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the Compliance team, promoting the use of analytics and MI to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
What We’re Looking For

- Strong understanding of financial crime risk modelling principles, methodologies (including statistical approaches), validation techniques, and model governance frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience in defining Management Information (MI) requirements, establishing MI governance, and delivering insightful reporting and dashboards for financial crime or compliance functions.
- Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages, specifically Python, and strong skills in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) for creating impactful reports and dashboards.
- Solid understanding of financial crime typologies (e.g., money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud), AML/CFT regulations, and regulatory expectations concerning risk modelling and MI across relevant jurisdictions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data and model outputs into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical (e.g., Data Science, Engineering) and non-technical teams, as well as influence decision-making.
- A proactive, strategic thinker with a strong sense of accountability, a solutions-focused approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in translating business needs into technical requirements for analytics and data engineering teams.
