Overview
The Manager, International Accounting will be responsible for overseeing and managing accounting operations across our EMEA region, consisting of entities primarily in Europe and the Middle East, including the United Kingdom, Norway, Spain, the Netherlands and UAE entities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements while aligning with global accounting policies and practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international accounting and financial reporting. Knowledge of U.K. and Norwegian accounting standards, regulations and tax compliance is highly desirable.
This employee in this role will work remotely within the U.K. but will be required to travel to London for meetings and team working sessions from time to time as requested. Travel is expected to be less than 10%.
Responsibilities
Accounting Oversight:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple international entities.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with local GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage statutory audits and filings in coordination with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to tax, VAT, and other regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as necessary.
Team Management & Collaboration
- Lead and develop accounting personnel at a senior and staff accountant level.
- Collaborate with global Finance, Legal, HR, and Operations teams to implement process improvements and maintain alignment across regions.
Process Improvements
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of international accounting operations.
- Support ERP system improvements, automation initiatives, and internal control enhancements.
Strategic Projects & Additional Duties
- Assist in integration activities for new entities or acquisitions within the EMEA region.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support regional leadership.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- ACCA or equivalent qualification required.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in international accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of Norwegian accounting and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-border teams and service providers.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience with ERP systems required; NetSuite experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a global software or technology company preferred.
