The opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional visionary leader to take on the pivotal role of Managing Director to lead NHS P&I at a time of significant transformation and innovation, as well as providing a unique opportunity to work closely with Welsh Government (WG), across NHS Wales, with local authorities and wider public bodies, and other stakeholders.
As Managing Director, you will provide strategic leadership, operational excellence and inspire a culture of continuous improvement across our functions. You will be directly accountable to the CEO of NHS Wales/Director General, Health Social Care & Early Years Group, WG, for the development and effective delivery of the NHS P&I’s annual work plan encompassing its broad range of work.
Lead the strategic and operational direction of NHS P&I, ensuring delivery of national priorities in line with the Mandate and annual Remit Letter issued by Welsh Government.
Lead and manage the performance and development of NHS P&I, ensuring its performance and delivery targets are set and achieved
Drive system wide transformation, integration and collaborative leadership across all the NHS P&I functions.
Ensure NHS P&I is delivering on the Welsh Government’s agreed response to the recommendations from the independent Ministerial Advisory Group on Performance and Productivity (April 2025).
Ensure all aspects of the work of NHS P&I is underpinned by statutory commitments to provide safe and high-quality services aimed at improving outcomes for patients in the Welsh NHS
Foster a compassionate, inclusive and high performing culture rooted in our organisational values
Build strong partnerships with senior leaders across other WG departments, the wider NHS Wales, social care, other public sector organisations, third sector, academia and private sector.
Ensure financial sustainability, delivery, efficiency, robust governance and compliance with all statutory, legislative and policy requirements.
