Summary:
This is a 12-month fixed term contract.
Are you self-driven and able to work independently? Do you have some experience in a Learning and Development team? Can you turn complex information into training requirements?
If this sounds like you, then you’ll want to learn more about this opportunity…
We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end mapping of all mandatory training requirements across the organisation. You will take the lead in planning and executing this project, aiming to deliver it within a 12-month timeframe by strategically focusing your efforts for the highest impact.
You will use your strong analytical and critical thinking skills to review all existing roles and prioritise them based on the urgency of their training needs to ensure regulatory compliance. This involves gathering data from various sources (including National Occupational Standards, external body requirements (like EUSR), Health & Safety legislation, and internal policies) and transforming these insights into impactful recommendations for working groups to consider . Your goal is to deliver these working groups to gain the stakeholders buy-in and ensure there is consensus on decisions.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an L&D role with a deep understanding of compliance training and role-based training mapping. You should have demonstrable experience in managing and delivering projects, and a project management qualification like PRINCE2 or PMP or CIPD level 5 or 7 would be highly desirable.
This role would be a great fit for someone who is curious, self-driven, and enjoys deep-dive research. Your excellent stakeholder management skills will be essential for building rapport, influencing decisions, and fostering engagement across the business.
Main responsibilities:
- Job Role Analysis: Lead the project which will involve a deep analysis of each job role's responsibilities, required skills, and performance expectations to determine what training is mandatory for compliance, meeting regulations and competence.

These sources will include but are not limited to: National Occupational Standards, external body requirements (e.g., EUSR), Health & Safety legislation, and internal policies and procedures.
- Prioritisation: Determine which roles require the most focus by assessing the headcount volume in those roles across the organisation and the risk level associated with them.
- Process Development: Determine and implement a systematic approach for information gathering, analysis, and interpretation for this project and for future iterations.
- Skill Gap Identification: Conduct a comprehensive skill gap analysis by assessing the current skill levels of employees within those priority roles and identifying the specific training needed to bridge the gap between current and required competencies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business to gather information, assign responsibilities, and gain buy-in and approval for mandatory training designations.
- LMS integration: Update the LMS with the new training requirements in the most efficient way to ensure it is accurate, clear, and can be refreshed.
