Preci-Spark is looking to recruit for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on New Product Introduction (NPI) to join our team at our Coalville facility.

The Role
- This is a shopfloor-based, practical role suited to an engineer who enjoys being actively involved in process development and problem-solving at the point of manufacture. You’ll take ownership of introducing new products into production — from supporting prototype builds through to ensuring a smooth transition into full-scale manufacturing.
- You’ll be collaborating closely with machinists, welders, and production teams to develop and optimise manufacturing processes in real time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead NPI activities on the shopfloor, supporting prototype builds and production readiness.
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and jigs for new components.
- Work closely with design engineers to ensure parts are manufacturable (DFM/DFA).
- Create and maintain production documentation such as routings, work instructions, and setup sheets.
- Conduct risk assessments, PFMEA, and implement control plans.
- Work directly with operators and technicians to resolve technical challenges during introduction.
- Identify and implement improvements in process capability, lead time, and cost.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers throughout the NPI lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering – or strong equivalent experience.
- Practical manufacturing engineering experience with a clear NPI focus.
- Strong understanding of shopfloor processes including CNC machining, fabrication, assembly, and inspection.
- Confident working hands-on with production teams to solve problems and trial new processes.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
- Proactive mindset with strong communication and coordination skills.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software is beneficial but not essential.
