The Vacancy

We are looking for a Market Data Intern to join our Innovation team. In this role, you will undertake a project to update, consolidate and develop our market information database that covers product and customer usage worldwide.

Reporting to the Head of Data Science, you will help us to ensure that we have the data to track and measure product uptake of De La Rue and our competitors and identify trends, report on market share, innovation evolution, competitive trends and return on investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Cleansing and Validation
    • Identify and correct typos in text fields
    • Standardise formatting (e.g. categorisation
    • Remove duplication
    • Check for missing values and flag or fill them appropriately
  • Data Enhancement
    • Add missing information by researching or referencing other sources/cross checking entries
    • Update outdated entries
    • Add additional fields/reorganise columns
    • Apply consistent naming conventions across categories or tags
  • Quality Assurance
    • Document changes in a change log or version history
    • Create a checklist to track progress
    • Flag anomalies for supervisor review
Contract type: Fixed Term (up to 4 months)

Working hours: Full Time – 36.5 hrs per week

Base location: Basingstoke, Hampshire

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • University student studying analytics, information science, data science, Mathematics and/or economics
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Excel – requirement to have the ability to use functions already in the spreadsheet e.g. HLookUp, VLookUp, Pivot tables etc
  • Ability to combine two complex files and validate where there is slightly different information
  • Comfortable with undertaking a mix of rationalisation and improvement, along with information investigation and data entry
