We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing & Business Development professional to join our Energy & Utilities and Aviation & Defence sector groups and firmwide ESG group. The successful candidate will work closely with and report into the Business Development (BD) Manager for this pod to drive forward all MBD activities. A high level of autonomy on international projects will allow you to develop good working relationships with partners, lawyers and other MBD colleagues worldwide.
Within the BD Team we have implemented a 'pod system'. This means that members of the BD Team work in small groups to support our practices and sectors. This means that the successful candidate will be fully supported by an experienced BD Manager at all times, whilst also retaining a high level of autonomy to run with activities.
This is an exciting role for an ambitious MBD Executive looking to work in a dynamic law firm with an engaged group of fee earners looking to push onto the next level.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the execution and implementation of the MBD plans for the two groups.
- Aiding the facilitation of cross-selling opportunities with other appropriate sector/practice/country teams, including client/industry research, reporting and advising on key findings.
- Helping produce excellent and up-to-date marketing materials (e.g. brochures, flyers, social media posts etc).
- Updating content for and promoting the groups' market leading reports and guides and helping create new reports as necessary.
- Supporting on event preparation (including Bird & Bird-led seminars/webinars, as well as industry conferences), ensuring that value is derived and recorded (e.g. creating targeted lists and assisting with follow-up actions).
- Collaborating with the BD Manager to identify hot topics and trends which support the business development strategy.
- Supporting the facilitation of cross-selling opportunities with other appropriate sector/practice/country teams.
- Tracking and reporting on new business leads generated through marketing and business development activities.
- Tracking experience from across all groups - sending out regular fee earner requests and reporting to Loopio (our credentials database)
What You'll Bring
- Previous experience of working in a professional services environment and experience of dealing directly with partners and key stakeholders would be helpful.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience of/an interest in the key legal and commercial issues affecting the energy, aviation and defence sectors, as well as the impact of ESG on all companies.
- Experience with the full spectrum of MBD activities, including in particular marketing campaigns, pitching and events.
- Strong writing skills, editing ability and proficiency in MS applications including Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, experience with other platforms like OnePlace/Salesforce etc. would be a bonus.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and curiosity to experiments with AI tools to improve efficiency and workflow.
- An understanding of social media's benefits and application.
