Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical & Maintenance Duties
- Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, and diesel engines.
- Perform preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs.
- Operate hand and machine tools, precision instruments, and CNC/manual machines.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Conduct precision alignment, levelling, and flange joint overhauls.
- Carry out testing, inspections, and performance checks.
Supervisory & Leadership
- Supervise a team of mechanical technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
- Cover for the Mechanical Foreman, including permit writing and daily coordination.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members and trainees.
- Monitor equipment reliability and implement improvements.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to Shell Assist & Assure and Wood’s Shield safety systems.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Report incidents and stop unsafe work when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records using SAP and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within oil and gas or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and fault diagnosis.
- Leadership experience in a supervisory or chargehand role.
Certifications
- ECITB MJI10 / TMJI10 (Hand Torque Bolted Connections)
- Working at Height (Unit 7 – Management)
- Gas Testing (E-learning)
Desirable
- SAP experience for maintenance tracking.
- Familiarity with changing technologies and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
