Mechanical Designer

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering aspects of facility projects from initial design through to commissioning. You will oversee engineering teams, manage project budgets and schedules, and ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards. Your responsibilities will include performing complex hydraulic and thermal calculations, specifying mechanical and piping systems, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and supporting installation and startup activities both domestically and internationally. You will also be expected to review and validate engineering outputs, conduct inspections, participate in commissioning and training, and maintain strong collaboration across disciplines to deliver efficient and compliant mechanical solutions.

The ideal candidate will be located in Northampton.

Key requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• 5–7 years of experience in mechanical engineering
• Strong understanding of facility mechanical systems and equipment.
• Experience in this role includes working with pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pressure relief devices, piping systems, and performing hydraulic and thermal calculations
• Ability to design and specify mechanical and piping systems.
• Familiarity with Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based programs
