About The Role

Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.

The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.

What you'll be doing

The Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Manager will lead and oversee all mechanical and electrical operations within the Civil Works Area (CWA) scope of the Sizewell C Enabling and Earthworks section. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of M&E systems and infrastructure supporting major construction activities.

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Lead the planning, execution, and management of all M&E activities within the CWA scope.
    • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Manage systems including Low Voltage (LV), High Voltage (HV), Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) requirements, and Batching Plants.
    • Ensure all installations and operations meet regulatory and safety standards.
  • Permit & Compliance Management:
    • Oversee the acquisition and management of all necessary permits for M&E works, including Site Assist and other relevant authorisations.
    • Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with Sizewell C clients, implementing partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure transparency and collaboration.
    • Support investigation processes and provide documentation as required.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of testing, commissioning, and operational activities.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
Who we're looking for

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in managing mechanical and electrical systems on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of LV/HV systems, TBM operations, and batching plant requirements.
  • Experience in permit management and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working on nuclear or high-security infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with CITB standards and construction workforce accreditation.
  • Ability to manage complex logistics and multi-disciplinary teams.
