Our client are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Estimator to be based in their office in London or Dublin, with an option of hybrid work dependant on the suitability of the candidate, some travel may be required. This position is within the fire protection division, knowledge of fire protection systems is not necessary, but a good understanding of mechanical equipment, materials, processes etc. is important.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full tender process, from initial review through to final submission.
• Analyse and interpret tender documents, technical specifications, and project drawings.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and develop competitive proposals.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, securing competitive quotations and validating pricing.
• Issue and manage RFIs, ensuring responses are incorporated into the estimating process.
• Collaborate with the Estimating Manager and senior leadership to prepare tender review reports.
• Conduct site visits and attend project meetings where required.
• Handover completed estimates and relevant documentation to the delivery team.

Requirements

• 3–5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Estimator or in a similar estimating role.
• Relevant third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical equipment, systems, and materials.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and other estimating tools.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
