About The Role
Balfour Beatty is recruiting for an experienced
Mechanical Project Manager to join our team on a major project in the Reading area. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of large, complex mechanical work packages worth £20m+, or to lead the full mechanical discipline on a project of similar scale.
What you'll be doing
- Drive a culture of safety and compliance on site, ensuring RAMs, SSOW, and procedures are in place and up to date.
- Lead subcontractor engagement and mobilisation, promoting collaboration and competence across all teams.
- Support sustainability goals, focusing on Net Zero construction and reducing environmental impact.
- Lead the operational team to deliver against programme, ensuring logic, sequencing, and short-term planning are effectively managed.
- Chair daily briefings, resolve blockers, and keep accurate records of progress and risks.
- Oversee site mobilisation, plant and lifting operations, and material flow throughout the project.
- Coordinate logistics plans with the wider team, ensuring efficiency in delivery and waste removal.
- Set and maintain high standards of mechanical installation quality, ensuring compliance with regulations, building safety, and fire safety requirements.
- Take ownership of technical detail, ensuring tested and compliant solutions are implemented on site.
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience delivering large-scale mechanical projects (£20m+).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple work packages and direct reports.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical standards, regulations, and building safety requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams.
- A collaborative leader who values teamwork, problem-solving, and driving performance.
