The Role:
As a key member of our on-site engineering team, you’ll ensure the safe and effective operation of mechanical systems through planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and continuous improvement of building performance. Your work will help support the critical research and educational operations of the prestigious Imperial College, London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant: pumps, AHUs, fan coil units, chillers, boilers, and compressors
- Respond to mechanical and plumbing-related callouts: leaks, blockages, tap replacements, and minor pipework
- Carry out emergency lighting testing and basic checks/resets on HVAC and BMS-controlled systems
- Monitor plant performance, undertake minor repairs, and escalate service-affecting issues
- Use CAFM system efficiently for job tracking and reporting via handheld device
- Escort specialist subcontractors and ensure H&S compliance at all times
- Maintain positive communication with client staff and internal teams
- Remain flexible for overtime and varied tasks within your skill set
What We’re Looking For:
- Level 2 mechanical qualification (Level 3 desirable – C&G, NVQ etc.)
- Strong HVAC experience in commercial buildings or hospital environments
- Hands-on knowledge of pumps, motors, mechanical plant systems, and plumbing
- Multi-skilled, with good IT/device competency
- Full UK driving license
- Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
