Role: Mechanical Craftsperson
Location: Birmingham, B15
Job Type: Contract (with possibility of extension)
Pay Rate: £14.36 to £16.92 per hour
About the Role
This role involves delivering mechanical maintenance services across a large healthcare estate. You will ensure all mechanical systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements, HTM guidance, and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventive maintenance, testing, and reactive mechanical repairs.
Maintain mechanical plant such as AHUs, FCUs, boilers, calorifiers, and associated equipment.
Support operations across acute hospitals, mental health units, and other estate buildings as required.
Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs, escalating issues when necessary.
Work in clinical environments when required and follow all safety protocols.
Record all work on CAFM systems accurately.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, HTMs, codes of practice, and internal procedures.
Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and instructions.
Maintain safe and tidy working environments.
Participate in ongoing training and development, including achieving AP or CP competencies.
Skills and Experience Required
City and Guilds or equivalent mechanical qualification.
Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
Good understanding of mechanical building services and plantroom equipment.
Experience within healthcare estates or PFI environments is beneficial.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of safety standards, CDM regulations, and HTM requirements.
