Job Details
As the governing body of the Square Mile, a global business hub, the City of London Corporation has a big impact on the UK economy, as well as the thousands of people who live, work and visit here. We also help to shape the future of London through our investment in major public programmes. From a new courts facility at Fleet Street dedicated to economic crime to new London Museum, we have a unique story to tell.
The role
You’ll be a key member of the Communications team: sourcing, shaping and placing stories that focus on major programmes, but which also demonstrate how the City Corporation supports a vibrant and thriving City, within a diverse and sustainable London and a globally successful UK.
In addition to building and managing strong stakeholder relationships in the media and across these exciting programmes, you’ll need to get to grips with the City Corporation’s committees, structures and traditions, and develop strong working relationships with elected Members and Officers. They, in turn, will call on you for strategic media and communications advice. Through daily dealings with the London, national and international media, you’ll ensure positive coverage across print, broadcast and digital platforms.
About you
With sound experience in a story-telling media environment, you have the ability to generate newsworthy ideas and get them into media outlets day in, day out. You’ll also know how to utilise social media. Experience of researching, organising and writing statements and press releases, as well as setting up photo opportunities, authored articles, briefings and presentations is essential. You’re used to managing multiple projects and stakeholder relationships to tight deadlines. A good understanding of key City and London issues is important, and you must be capable of writing across different topics for diverse audiences, in a clear, concise and engaging way.
