Medical Associate Director – Medical Affairs (Contract)

Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term

Location: UK (Hybrid / Predominantly Remote)

Travel: Occasional (Conferences / Internal Meetings)

A global organisation operating within a highly regulated medical device environment is seeking a Medical Associate Director to support medical affairs activities across a broad and diverse product portfolio.

This role plays a critical part in new product introductions, clinical evaluation, safety oversight, and cross-functional decision-making, working closely with Quality, Regulatory, and global Medical Affairs stakeholders. It is well suited to a clinically trained professional looking to apply medical judgement in a strategic, international setting.

Responsibilities:

Provide medical input to support new product introductions and front-end innovation initiatives
Contribute to the design of clinical trials, including endpoint definition
Review Clinical Evaluation Reports (CERs) for medical accuracy and clinical relevance

Partner with regulatory leads to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations

Review publications to ensure on-label compliance and appropriate medical positioning

Review marketing and sales materials for medical accuracy and claim substantiation

Participate in safety boards, providing medical health and safety assessments

Support health evaluations across a large global manufacturing and product footprint

Act as the medical affairs voice within cross-functional project teams

Collaborate closely with Quality, Regulatory, Medical Writing, and Commercial teams

Provide medical input into product risk assessments and issue resolution

Attend conferences to build hands-on product and clinical understanding

Work effectively with US-based stakeholders, requiring occasional evening flexibility

Gradually transition from shadowing into independent ownership of medical affairs activities

About You:

Medical degree (MD or equivalent)
Minimum 5 years’ clinical experience with direct patient interaction
Experience or exposure to medical devices strongly preferred

Understanding of clinical trials and clinical evaluation processes

Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Fluent English

Willingness to travel occasionally and work flexibly with global teams
