Join Our Team as a Medical Consultant - Freelance KOL / SME for Pediatric Rare Diseases (Achondroplasia Specialist).
About this role
TFS HealthScience is seeking a board-certified Rare Disease expert to act as a Medical Consultant - Freelance KOL / SME for Pediatric Rare Diseases (having Achondroplasia Specialist if possible ) in support of our growing Rare Disease portfolio. In this freelance role, you will provide strategic scientific input across key clinical development activities and help position TFS as a leading CRO in the Rare Disease space.
This is an externally facing role ideal for an expert who enjoys sharing insights, participating in strategic discussions with sponsors, and helping shape clinical development approaches in Rare Diseases. Your thought leadership will play a vital role in building trust, enhancing credibility, and driving engagement with current and prospective clients.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Influence & Representation: Serve as a visible and respected KOL/SME for Rare Disease, representing TFS in sponsor discussions, industry forums, and external events.
Therapeutic Expertise: Provide authoritative input on disease trends, treatment paradigms, and unmet needs to help guide clinical development strategies.
Study Design Consultation: Advise on protocol development, patient population selection, endpoint strategy, and recruitment feasibility to ensure high-quality, scientifically sound trials.
Strategic Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (medical, operational, and business development) to support client engagement, shape proposals, and identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
Optional: Availability to support medical monitoring activities in the future would be welcomed, though not essential.
Who We're Looking For
Medical Degree
Board-certified Rare Disease expert with recognised expertise in the field.
Demonstrated experience as a KOL, advisor, or consultant in clinical research or industry settings.
Deep knowledge of GCP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements (FDA/EMA).
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; strong presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Previous experience collaborating with CROs or pharmaceutical sponsors preferred
Business acumen: Proven ability to support business development with a strategic, client-focused approach.
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
