We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinical Lead to join our Mental Health team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester.

To work as part of and lead the Mental Health team within the Integrated Healthcare Services team.

Hours

37.5 hours a week working 8-4pm. No weekends.

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £57603 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Qualifications required

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (Currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council) BSc or equivalent qualification
• Experience of providing supervision Teaching / Mentoring experience
• Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and on-going competence in all aspects of the role

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

What you'll be doing:

As a Mental Health Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will vary.

• You will Provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and allied health professionals.
• Establish inter-agency working where necessary to ensure good communication increases quality of care for patients.
• Ensuring that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
• Based on the Wellbeing Approach and Practice Plus mental Health policy, provide nursing triage and screening and assessment.
• Actively participate with the development of local operating procedures to ensure pathways are clear for clinicians
• Ensuring all complaints / concerns relating to Mental Health are dealt with in a timely fashion.
• Nurse lead treatment or care within mental health Medicines management/advice including supporting medicine administration
• Set standards for care by implementing protocols and establishing health education activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, planning and treatment of patients.
