  • Working with the Group Chief Operating Office (GCOO) M&A Lead you’ll set up, manage and co-ordinate GCOO activity across all aspects of inbound and outbound transactions, to ensure connectivity, efficiency and effectiveness, in line with our new operating model and processes
  • This is a great opportunity to partner with the business to identify and manage resource requirements for all transactions, operationalising the tactical solution and designing the strategic approach to leverage adaptive planning
  • You’ll be recognised as a trusted advisor, as you help us to shape and deliver the future M&A strategy of the bank on behalf of GCOO areas

What you'll do

In this key role, you’ll partner with Corporate Development and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across GCOO to develop our approach towards M&A integration and separation activity, supporting the development of our engagement model, ensuring core collateral is developed and maintained to support the lifecycle of transactions.

We’ll look to you to own and drive continuous improvement initiatives across GCOO, ensuring all lessons learned are captured, actioned and embedded, to ensure we continuously raise the bar on the service we provide. You’ll manage the design, set up, tracking and reporting of progress against OKRs for all integration and separation activity on behalf of People, Marketing, Communications, Supplier, Property, Investments and Corporate Governance, to ensure we have a complete view of deliverables and performance.

Additionally, you’ll support day to day transaction activity, ensuring that:

  • GCOO stakeholders have a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities and are organised so that the project is planned and delivered effectively
  • The strategy for each area and stage of the deal is clearly understood by all stakeholders
  • The deal team leads, plans and delivers all the relevant activities throughout the lifecycle of the deal
  • GCOO governance is followed for all M&A inputs into the deal strategy and implementation plan
  • Resource OKRs and are tracked and reported across the full deal portfolio

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need prior experience of acquisitions, divestments, insources and outsources, and managing programmes or a portfolio of activity. Along with this you’ll have excellent planning, critical thinking, relationship and stakeholder management skills.

As well as this, you’ll demonstrate:

  • A broad working knowledge of M&A or programme management and experience of managing complex projects with challenging and inflexible timescales
  • Good commercial understanding of the bank and it’s stakeholders
  • Experience of managing input to projects from external consultants and third-party suppliers in delivery of solutions
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together with other functions to deliver enterprise wide deliverables
  • Excellent attention to detail, a continuous improvement and solutions oriented mindset
