Brief Description

Central Route is the Heart of Britain's Railway. More than a million people rely on our route every week, and we help transport nearly a million tonnes of freight every month. About The Role (External)

Setting us up for future potential roles

In this crucial front-line role, y ou will play a key role in maintaining the safe operation of the railway by responding to accidents and incidents as directed by Route Control. Acting as Rail Incident Officer when required, you will lead on-site command arrangements, coordinate infrastructure and service recovery, and gather evidence to support incident investigations and reporting. You will also provide incident response cover for other Mobile Operations Managers and work closely with colleagues to ensure effective and timely restoration of services.

In addition, you will support day-to-day operational activities including performance monitoring, contingency and seasonal planning, audit work, and support to engineering and maintenance teams. The role involves maintaining response vehicles and equipment, addressing route crime issues in liaison with the British Transport Police, and representing Network Rail professionally with lineside neighbours and third parties. You may also assist with wider operational duties, signalling support where competent, and help ensure compliance with operational procedures and competency requirements.

Naturally, we'll also expect you to carry out a broad range of operational support duties – from performance monitoring and weather related contingency planning, through to audit and engineering work, stores ordering and vehicle monitoring.

This role involves days, nights and weekend working, and is a safety critical role so subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment.

The successful applicant will be required to attend a 7 week training course as part of your induction.

Salary:

Band SUP 7,

MOM - £50,018

MOM Relief- £50,018 plus 24% Allowance

Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the pay range advertised.
