Eden Project Morecambe is seeking a dynamic and resourceful client-side senior project manager to support the team in delivering a transformative £100m project. The role is pivotal in balancing the complex, integrated elements of infrastructure, construction, horticulture and visitor experience delivery to align with Edens vision of public benefit and sustainability. Reporting to the Eden Project Director, this is a truly unique opportunity to shape a world-class destination that leaves a legacy for Morecambe and the Eden Project.
You will be a key member of the project delivery team, working with an established multi-disciplinary team of consultants to bring your delivery skills, knowledge and experience to steer the required outputs and outcomes across a range of programme workstreams.

Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Client-side Senior Construction Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of the Eden Project Morecambes construction, engineering and landscape. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for sustainability. You will work closely with the external professional consultant team, contractors and stakeholders to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and environmental standards.
Eden Project Morecambe, will transform a site on Morecambes seafront into a world class cultural and scientific educational eco-destination. Overlooking the natural beauty of Morecambe Bay, spectacular pavilions and inter-connecting gardens will be curated with horticulture, exhibits, art commissions, storytelling, performance, interactive installations, immersive environments, events, workshops and education programmes. Within the context of humanity facing the impact of the planetary emergency, the project is designed as a global exemplar; an immersive cultural learning hub for regenerative sustainability, one that demonstrates, communicates and inspires positive change, providing hope and agency - for all.
Since 2017 we have been working in partnership with Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County
Council and Lancaster University to assess, design and develop Eden Project Morecambe. This strategic partnership and collaboration resulted in the confirmation of £50 million of Government investment for the project as part of a £100 million overall capital cost to make the project a reality. Fundraising to meet the full project outturn cost is in the final stages and will be augmented throughout construction to opening.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Project Director by leading the planning and execution of construction, civil engineering and landscape projects from inception to completion.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with the Eden team, external consultant team and contractors to ensure designs are implemented accurately and efficiently.
- Administer tenders, reporting and approvals to comply with public procurement regulations including the execution of consultant and contractor appointments.
- Monitor project progress and performance, making adjustments as necessary to meet goals.
- Manage project budgets, including tracking project cashflow against budget, administering consultant and contractor invoices.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and sustainability and social value practices throughout the design, construction and handover processes.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and provide guidance and support to project team members.
- Embed the operations teams into the project handover planning and manage a handover and compliance process through to completion of defects.
Demands of the role
Education & Qualifications
Educated to degree-level or equivalent in a construction or project management discipline. RICS/RIBA/CIOB/ICE Professional Membership and qualification or equivalent.
Knowledge & skills
The post holder will have had at least 7 years experience of management positions and have been responsible for delivery of significant value Capital Projects together with a deep understanding of construction contract administration. A proven track-record of successful project delivery is essential. Experience of managing consultant teams, contractors and stakeholders is also essential.
Decision- making
Reporting to the Project Director and CEO on the project programme, budget, quality, compliance and risk mitigation will be a major part of the role. You will have a solutions-focused mindset and the ability to make time critical cost-conscious decisions within a delegated level of authority.
Resourcefulness
Acting as primary point of contact for the consultant team, contractor(s) and the key interface with Edens operational teams you will hold and nurture a wide range of important relationships. You will be expected to develop new ideas, create new partnerships and take a proactive role in delivering Edens Capital Project.
People & asset management
You will be responsible for the day-to-day interface between the external consultant team and contractor(s) and be accountable for drawing down grant and other funds in a compliant manor.
Communication & visitor experience
The postholder will be required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills regularly providing concise and accurate written reports supported by presentations to a range of internal and external audiences. The postholder will be required to gain a deep understanding of the visitor journey and how this will be effectively integrated into the design, implementation, handover and operation of the project.
Operational environment
Full UK driving license. Meetings in London, across the North West and occasionally Cornwall are an essential part of the role, as would overnight trips to places where Eden projects are taking place.
