About Us
You’ve probably heard of Autotrader, but do you know what we’re all about?
We’re the UK’s leading automotive marketplace, a heritage brand, and a tech darling of the stock market. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we're best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e-bikes to caravans.
In the automotive world, change is a constant, that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car-buying journey very seriously.
At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together.
Autotrader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.
About The Job
We’re looking for a motoring journalist to be based out of our Manchester or London office. The primary purpose of this role is to produce the best automotive editorial content in the industry. This involves strategically creating, curating, and managing editorial content that builds brand trust, engages consumers, and drives business goals. The role is about shaping our voice and deepening consumer relationships through our editorial content at scale. The content created helps Autotrader reach new consumers, engage them on our platforms, and support our marketing and business strategies, as well as our consumer purpose.
You'll work closely with the Reviews Editor, Editorial Director, and the wider Editorial team to road test new cars and provide insightful reviews that help consumers make informed decisions. Your role will involve creating well-researched, original articles that cater to a broad audience, from car enthusiasts to everyday buyers and sellers. You'll also bolster our Electric, New Car, Buying, Selling, and consumer news output, staying on top of the latest automotive trends and suggesting content opportunities.
In this role, you'll meet tight deadlines, collaborate with editors to ensure content quality, and strengthen our copyrighting capabilities for various platforms, including e-mail newsletters, social media, and video scripts. You'll create written content to the highest standard, capture photographs and videos at car launches, and work with wider teams across Autotrader in the ideation, creation, scripting, and filming for on-site videos.
By forging strong relationships with internal teams, including Product & Tech, you'll accurately translate our product offerings and data capabilities through our editorial content. You’ll embrace our collaborative approach and add value to the Editorial and wider marketing teams, using audience engagement data to continuously improve our content. If you're ready to drive our editorial content to the next level, we can’t wait to hear from you!
What We're Looking For
In the application form we'll ask to see some links to any content you've written or produced to really help showcase your skills and experience. In addition, we're looking for someone who can demonstrate the below:
- Experience in drafting editorial reviews content within the automotive industry.
- An industry expert with a network of contacts in the automotive industry which can be leveraged to help bolster our editorial content on site.
- Experience of optimising editorial content for SEO and generative search.
- Ability to identify and repurpose existing, archived content that may be buried but that can be brought to life and made contemporary with fresh eyes.
- Some experience in script writing for video content.
- Some experience in presenting video content
- Experience working cross-functionally between teams and projects.
- Able to travel around the UK and abroad for shoots, shows and reviews
