About The Role
Balfour Beatty Rail is a recognised leader in the design, construction, maintenance, and renewal of rail assets and systems.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and organised
MPV Resource Planner to join our Rail Plant team at the
Horsham Depot in Sussex.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring the effective allocation of train driver and machine operator resources to meet operational demands. You will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused planning solutions for our Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) operations.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Support short and long-term planning to ensure MPV shift delivery aligns with Network Rail requirements.
- Optimise crew utilisation while maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
- To ensure electronic and manual filing systems/records are maintained for audit purposes.
- Prepare statutory documentation including weekly work plans, rosters, circuit amendments, and WONs.
- To find cover for anyone unable to meet their roster requirements or for additional shifts
- To keep staff & Managers informed of any changes to rosters
- To maintain the Fatigue Index Calculator to ensure that the rosters are in accordance with it’s requirements
- To assist the Operations manager in other OTM activities
- Ability to supply future work plans and forecasting data as required
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual with the following attributes:
- Logical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex work plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Calm and adaptable approach to changing operational requirements.
- Sound geographical knowledge of the Sussex and Wessex regions.
- Ability to contribute positively to a close-knit and hardworking team.
- Knowledge and experience of rail industry is preferred.
- Flexibility to respond to short-notice changes outside standard working hours (Monday to Friday).
- A good understanding and (or) experience of planning software
- IT literate including being proficient in Excel and Word
- High attention to detail and highly motivated
- Able to work on own initiative
