Main Responsibilities
The following reflects typical duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive description of all tasks. Duties may change in accordance with operational demands. The jobholder must, therefore, be flexible in his/her approach to work objectives.
Key Strategies
- H&S - Facilitate Health & Safety improvements within Engineering and Site.
- PPM - Serve as the focal point to enter routines in the CMMS
- Reliability - Share and provide knowledge based upon maintenance experience
- Planning & Scheduling - Planning of Like for Like (L4L) work requests and Schedule work to maximum crew efficiency
- Spares Parts Management
Health & Safety
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Company Safe Systems of Work, Health and Safety at work act, and report any Health and Safety issues to the H&S representative.
- Act on safety matters in a timely fashion and promote behavioural safety within the operation through leading by example with PPE, near miss reporting, LOTO and permit adherence.
- Issue Permits to work when required adopting a lead role to ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner
- Ensure 100% compliance.
Improving Equipment Reliability Work Processes
- Prepare repeating PPM job plans in the role of Planner
- As required enter PPM data and update the CMMS system
- When necessary set up the PPM routines on repeating calendars in the CMMS with appropriate notification horizons.
- Assist the Reliability Leaders to consolidate new PPM routines, which are generated from the RCM reviews with the existing routines, eliminating duplications, deleting routines no long required and optimizing the schedule
Routine Maintenance Work Processes
- Know, understand and be able to prepare job packages and plans.
- Manage an electronic job library to house detailed job plans.
- Prepare job plans in the CMMS.
- Receive and review for completeness the like for like work requests. Determine if the work request is complete and if the information is accurate.
- Consistently and constructively feedback to work request originators.
- Prior to constructing a detailed job package, search the electronic Job Library for an achieved plan, retrieve appropriate plan if one exists, review, update and amend as appropriate to suit the new work request.
- If a plan does not exist in the Electronic Job Library and if the work dictates, prepare a detailed job package external to the CMMS and place the major job steps in the job plan, identifying the correct crafts and time allocations for each major job step.
- Working with the Operations team on a daily and weekly basis understand the work requests that are to be placed on the daily and weekly work schedules for the shift engineering team.
- Assure that L4L work orders that are agreed as ready to schedule and have parts, materials and external resources if required are available
- If there are constraints regarding parts, equipment, and or external resources, with work requests to be placed on the daily or weekly schedules, consult with operations in regard to priority adjustments to the schedules.
- Assure all weekly and daily schedules are 100% resource loaded for both days and shifts.
- If work selected by the operations team for both the daily and weekly schedule exceeds the resource available, review the gap with the Engineering Manager and Operations Manager and agree omission of those work requests which are the lowest in terms of priority
- Working within the CMMS place all Self Planned Work on the daily and weekly schedule consistent with the direction and priorities established.
- Daily as the schedule is finalize and weekly, distribute these schedules to all individuals who are required to receive these updates
- Openly, willingly and with an encouraging attitude, accept constructive feedback from the engineering team using to improve all aspects of Job Scheduling
- Based upon the detailed job plan, identify and procure the required materials or specific service for L4L activities as required.
- Place all completed job requests grouped into two lists PPM’s & Ready to Schedule Work Orders
- Compile and produce and monthly statistical report for distribution to the site Management Team. (content to be identified)
- As required actively participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA’s)
- As appropriate participate in Reliability Centre Maintenance (RCM’s) Reviews serving as an Maintenance Facilities Expert
- As required generate and or update Bills of Material (BOM’s).
- Team Relations, Flexibility and Self Development (TFS)
- Undertake work processes promptly and efficiently
- Provide coaching and training to the manufacturing/engineering teams to transfer skills.
- Undergo such training as may be required by the Company and have a flexible approach to changes in working methods, systems and procedures as may be dictated by technological changes or re-organisation within the Company;
- The job holder must be prepared to work such additional hours as may be reasonably required even at short notice to ensure the efficient running of the Engineering Department and if this need arises, cover the responsibilities of other Mechanical Reliability Technicians during periods of absence.
