Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our company and work in the Engineering team based at our Neale Road site in DN2.
Role : An opportunity has arisen for an Electrically biased Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering team. Predominantly focussing on supporting the Extrusion department. Working closely with the production team(s) to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum by delivering a true mixture of planned/preventative/project and improvement tasks.
Responsibilities
- Development of and carrying out planned and preventative maintenance.
- Carry out breakdown diagnostics (RCA) and eliminate repeat failures.
- Involvement and leading Focussed improvement initiatives such as, Tagging exercises, Restoring basic (as new) conditions, Critical spare analysis + stock management, 5s and Autonomous maintenance support for production teams, Reduction of short stops on the equipment
- Involvement in CAPEX projects and machinery installation
- Generating and delivering small scale improvement projects
- Ensure strict compliance with company Health & Safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- A time-served / apprentice trained Engineer with clear evidence of working in a multi skilled capacity. Electrical bias is preferred to supplement current mechanical skills within the team.
- Ideally possess a good working knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment, and the associated material handling processes and powder mixing.
- Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of MS office packages
- Experience working in a 'world class manufacturing' environment beneficial.
- Ability to work under pressure without supervision in a quality and results driven environment.
- Ability to diagnose faults on a wide range of industrial equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and generate effective reporting.
- Proactive and well organised.
- Positive, can do work ethic, with an ability to challenge the current status quo and wanting to go the extra mile to deliver a meaningful difference.

Hours of work: This role will be working shifts, 12 hours, 2 on 3 off, 3 on 2 off.
