Opticore IT is currently searching for Senior Network Engineer to join an exisitng team to support the transition of a traditional MPLS Network to a modern SDWAN solution. This opportunity is based in central Lonodn up to 2 days a week.
Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.
Our client currently operates a large number of sites connected via BT using fixed line and 5G connectivity, all backhauled into a centralised MPLS environment. The focus for this role will be on the underlay network and SD-WAN deployment, with overlay services planned for a later phase.
What you'll be doing:
Support the transition from a traditional MPLS network to SD-WAN (vendor-agnostic; Meraki likely but not yet confirmed)
Assess and advise on the implications of moving to SD-WAN
Assist with the design and deployment of centralised SD-WAN connectivity
Lead and support site migrations from MPLS to SD-WAN
Work closely with BT-provided data circuits and centralised connectivity services
Focus initially on underlay network stability and performance, with overlay services to follow next year
Provide hands-on support for site deployments and cutovers
Carry out basic firewall configuration and troubleshooting
Collaborate with internal engineers and stakeholders throughout the deployment lifecycle
What you'll bring:
Strong previous experience using SDWAN
Solid background in LAN-focused networking
Previous experience with Routing & Switching
Experience using firewalls (any vendor)
Experience working with MPLS environemtns and large multi-site networks
