Networking Specialist

Location: Battersea & Hybrid

Full Time: 3-6 months contract

The Role

Are you a networking genius with 10 years of experience supporting and enhancing networks and infrastructure?

If you can show us you're bang up to date and hungry for a new challenge in our new data centre get ready to support us with this exciting project and help develop a high performance network.

You will be able to forge new relationships quickly and win the trust and respect of the team.

You’ll work hand-in-hand with these internal teams to design, build, optimise and initially maintain robust and secure networking systems, supporting our core business services.

The Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain datacentre networking infrastructure, including layer 2 and layer 3 topologies.
• Manage and optimize MPLS and VPLS networks, including configuring edge and core routers.
• Provision and manage cross-connects between infrastructure providers and peering partners.
• Configure and administer firewalls, including rules, VPNs, HA, and traffic shaping.
• Manage enterprise switching environments, specifically:Mellanox switches for high-throughput and low-latency workloads.Meraki switches for cloud-managed network segments.
• Collaborate with systems and platform teams to support scalable and fault-tolerant deployments.
• Ensure high levels of network security, redundancy, and compliance.
• Create documentation of network topology, configuration standards, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Assist with migrations, incident response, and performance tuning across hybrid networking environments.

Skills required

• Proven experience in datacentre networking environments.
• Hands-on experience with MPLS, VPLS, and cross-connects.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.) and traffic engineering.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting firewalls.
• Expertise with Mellanox and Meraki switching platforms.
• Solid grasp of VLAN segmentation, link aggregation, and QoS strategies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is advantageous.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with software-defined storage platforms (e.g. Cloudian, QuantaStor).
• Knowledge of hybrid cloud networking (including AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute).
• Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIS, or equivalents.
