The Role.

We're looking for an experienced journalist to join our newsroom as News Editor – a pivotal role that combines hands-on editing with original reporting. You'll work at the heart of the sports industry, helping to create stories that influence billion-dollar deals and strategic decisions.

This role offers the best of both worlds: the editorial rigour of desk editing (ensuring every story meets our exacting standards) and the excitement of breaking news, interviewing C-suite executives, and developing your network across the global sports industry.

You Will Own.

Editorial oversight (60%)

• Edit and sub stories from the SportBusiness team, maintaining our reputation for accuracy, clarity and high-quality writing
• Curate and build the daily SportBusiness News newsletter, selecting top stories and ensuring compelling presentation
• Upload and ensure accuracy of content on sportbusiness.com, including images, formatting, and metadata
• Work closely with the Editor in Chief, SportBusiness News, on story selection, editorial priorities and quality control

Reporting & writing (40%)

• Write original news stories, identifying breaking developments across different markets and industry sectors

You Will Bring.

• Minimum 2 years' experience in journalism (ideally in B2B news or specialist trade publishing)
• Proven editing and subbing experience with meticulous attention to detail
• Exceptional writing ability – you can write accurately, coherently, and quickly under pressure
• Excellent command of written and spoken English with strong grammar and style skills
• Strong research skills and ability to quickly compile background information
• Deadline driven with excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under significant time pressure
• Confidence communicating with senior executives – from interviews to source development
• Knowledge of the global sports business landscape (media rights, sponsorship, finance) an advantage
