Your Role And Responsibilities

We are looking for 3 experienced veterinary surgeons to join our busy and expanding specialist-led, multi-disciplinary, referral hospital as night vets. You will be working alongside a team of interns, nurses, and patient care assistants, within our large multi-disciplinary referral practice, to provide the highest standard of care to our in-patients and cases under our care. The shift pattern will be 7 nights on followed by 14 nights off allowing for a good work-life balance. The role will also include out of hour consults of stable referral cases for further work up the following day. The role would suit an experienced primary care vet who is keen to gain experience in a referral hospital that sees a varied and complex caseload with the support of the referral team.

Paragon is a purpose-built diplomate led multidisciplinary referral hospital. It is situated just outside the City of Wakefield. The centre opened its doors in 2018 so the centre is still new and benefits from its clean and modern design.

As a multidisciplinary centre you will work alongside some of the country’s leading specialists and be supported by a team of skilled and compassionate veterinary nurses. With our practice being RCVS accredited to Small Animal Veterinary Hospital level, it allows us to provide outstanding levels of care. The team at Paragon are committed to delivering a first-class service for patients, clients and our referring vet partners.

The hospital benefits from being close to the beautiful rural Yorkshire countryside yet also has excellent main road links to via the M1 and M62. We are within easy access of

Leeds. The nearest airport is Leeds and Bradford and we are within easy access of Manchester.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area for adults, families and children with Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Trust properties and endless walks either in the Peak District, Yorkshire moors or Yorkshire dales.

Paragon have an exceptionally friendly team for which you can feel the friendly team atmosphere as soon as you enter the building. They also benefit from having anaethetists and two ECC diplomates on site and an exceptional nurse team They also have a dedicated nurse training lead who is responsible for quality training, mentoring and supporting the nurses who all undertake regular training and specific area inductions. The team also comprise of globally recognised diplomates in medicine, oncology, anaesthesia, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, cardiology, neurology and ECC
