Obstetrics Sonographer

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Obstetrics Sonographer to join our dedicated imaging team in Sheffield. The successful candidate will provide high-quality ultrasound examinations to support the care and wellbeing of women throughout pregnancy, working closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of obstetric ultrasound scans, including early pregnancy assessments, anomaly scans, growth and wellbeing scans, and Doppler studies.
• Accurately record and interpret findings in line with national standards and local protocols.
• Provide clear explanations and reassurance to patients during scans, maintaining a sensitive and professional approach at all times.
• Work collaboratively with the wider maternity and imaging teams, including obstetricians and midwives.
• Ensure effective communication of scan results to clinical colleagues to support patient care and decision-making.
• Participate in audit, quality assurance, and continuous service development.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in obstetric imaging and undertake continuing professional development (CPD).
• Adhere to infection control, safeguarding, and health & safety policies.

Essential Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent) with a focus on obstetrics.
• Current registration with the HCPC or equivalent professional body.
• Demonstrated experience in obstetric scanning across all gestational stages.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients in potentially sensitive situations.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
