A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and suitably skilled Occupational Therapist to join our acute Neurosciences team based at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW). This role supports the acute Neurosciences wards and provides assessment/early intervention/rehabilitation for patients with highly complex needs following traumatic or acquired brain injury. This is an exciting time for Occupational Therapy as we continue to shape and develop our Occupational Therapy offer for those with occupational needs as a result of brain injury.

As a member of the multi-professional team, working collaboratively to support people with complex needs as a result of brain injury, you will deliver neuro-based specialist assessment and early rehabilitation to optimise occupational performance. Complex seating/postural management, cognition /delirium management, upper limb rehabilitation/splinting will all be part of this role. Complex regional discharge planning, multi agency engagement, environmental assessment/care recommendation are part of this role.

You will continue development of our early Occupational Therapy rehabilitation offer, engage in multiprofessional joint working and optimise experience ensuring smooth transfer across our specialist pathways.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated suitably skilled individual with excellent communication skills, effective teamworking and a passion for rehabilitation.

Experience of complex disability management:, postural assessment/wheelchair provision, upper limb management, cognition plus complex discharge planning/repatriation would support this role.

Continuous professional development is promoted and opportunities to shadow/visit other services within this specialist pathway will be encouraged.

We welcome enquiries and visits.
