Main duties of the job
The South East Neurosciences and Trauma Strategic Network aligns all the regional Operational Delivery Networks (ODN) for Neurosciences and Major Trauma together to deliver the specialised services transformation agenda across the SE region. This involves working with all providers, ICB's and primary care teams to realise the vision of equitable, quality and timely care closer to home.
Each ODN has a leadership team consisting of Clinical Lead, manager and lead AHP, RN or healthcare scientist.
The lead RN / AHP or healthcare scientist will work closely with the other members of the ODN Leadership team and the regional complex case managers to lead and inspire professionally qualified staff to analyse existing pathways, identify opportunities for change and support local teams to implement change. This role will also support the clinical lead with the clinical governance arrangements of the ODN and lead on patient and public voice.
The Neurosciences and Trauma Strategic Network is seeking 4 part-time ODN lead AHP / RN / healthcare scientists; 2.5 days / ODN (Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, Neurology and Spinal Cord Injury).

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
These roles are suited to experienced, professionally qualified clinicians who want to influence patient pathways and effect change across the SE and potentially nationally.
These roles could be undertaken as a stand alone part time role within the post holders speciality or as an addition to an existing substantive role within a Strategic Network Trust enabling the successful applicant to continue in their clinical role whilst influencing patient care at a regional / national level.
The role will responsible to the ODN manager and will work with teams across the region to deliver changes required.
Job Responsibilities
To provide specialist leadership across the network as a source of expertise, advice, and knowledge for patients, families, and healthcare professionals
Lead the strategic and operational development of coherent and effective network arrangements.
In partnership with the Network Educator, play a key role in delivering education and training for speciality areas within the Strategic Network as well as taking a lead on promoting research.
Accountable for a programme of work that meets national and local priorities, providing recommendations to commissioners focused on improving population health, care quality, and system value.
Lead on user engagement and participation in service planning and risk management
Promote family-centred care within the Strategic Network and support the development and functioning of local carer/family/support groups.
The successful candidate will be a highly effective change agent, have a reputation as a clinical expert in their field with a track record of working with multiple organisations at different levels.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse/AHP/Healthcare Scientist
- Master’s Degree in a health- related discipline (or demonstrable evidence of working at Master's Level)
- Able to deal with difficult decisions – especially around ethical decisions and end of life care.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Relevant post-registration experience in your field
- Leadership and management of a clinical team
- Reputation for professional excellence with a track record of practice development
- Evidence of involvement with risk and governance structure
- Service introduction or redesign experience
- Understanding of Operational Delivery Networks and experience of working in an ODN.
- In-depth specialist knowledge of Strategic Network speciality areas
- Evidence of healthcare management development and leadership development
- Ability to work in various locations across a large geographical area
- Ability to travel through the course of the working day
Desirable criteria
- Leadership/management training/qualification
- Speciality qualification related to Strategic Network Postgraduate course in Strategic Network workstream
- Experience of working in a senior position in a strategic healthcare role
- Experience of leading research projects
- Up to date clinical practice training
- Involvement in national strategic planning and clinician developments or specialist areas policy/guideline development
- National/international presentation experience.
